Thursday Mote, Hummmm

Sometimes cliché’s are true: Some of the defendants charged in the storming of the U.S. Capitol are turning away defense lawyers and electing to represent themselves, undeterred by their lack of legal training or repeated warnings from judges. You know what they say, any man that acts as his own attorney, has an incompetent attorney and a fool for a client.

Pop up Ad: “This Heater Melts Frigid Hawaii Winter”. Say what? Am I living in the wrong part of Hawaii?

I apologize to Joy Behar: White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Monday was asked about China’s hypersonic nuclear-capable missile that circled the globe at low-orbit. Psaki brushed off China’s expanding nuclear missile silo field and ability to execute a nuclear strike without warning as “stiff competition.” Does she ever think before she opens her mouth? This would make Behar the second dumbest person in the world.IMHO

Student COVID commissars: It appears that numerous Universities have started their own snitchworks by appointing “Student Health Ambassadors,” paid adult hall monitors whose job is to patrol their campuses and enforce mask policies and distancing regulations. One of the most egregious examples comes from UCLA , where student Covid commissars have been given the authority to “break up social gatherings” and to check students’ “clearance certificates”.” Students who violate COVID policies can face suspension and expulsion. The enforcers, who are paid $15 an hour, even don vests and T-shirts emblazoned with the health ambassador logo. Pepperdine University, has launched a program to “ train and deploy” students to “monitor” their peers for “COVID-19 policy compliance,” a gig that conveniently comes with a high visibility bright blue T-shirt. Pepperdine has also decided to use the carrot instead of just the stick, now giving out raffle tickets to those who are wearing masks. This sounds a lot like a Social Study experiment I read about in the 60’s. It did not go well. Giving students power over other students never goes well.

It’s for the good of the people: A Black Lives Matter co-founder who once admitted that she had been “trained” to be a Marxist organizer has been appointed to the Los Angeles County Arts Commission. As if you needed another one: Patrisse Cullors recently revealed the move in a newsletter to her supporters. She said she “came back and hit the ground running” after “some much needed time of rest.” In May, Cullors stepped down as executive director of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation following a controversy surrounding her property purchases. Cullors was appointed to the commission by L.A. County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell, a Democrat. The group functions in an advisory role to the powerful L.A. County Board of Supervisors, the governing body of America’s most populated county.  This is the “activist” with 4 homes. Another reason to leave LA. If you needed one.

Did we get all American’s out of Afghanistan? I ask because I don’t see anything in the MSM about them. So, we got them all out, right?
