Monday Motes To Think About

The “next” VP: Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown addressed his past extramarital relationship with U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris , saying he may have boosted her career. “Yes, we dated. It was more than 20 years ago,” Brown wrote in the San Francisco Chronicle. “Yes, I may have influenced her career by appointing her to two state commissions when I was [California] Assembly speaker. And I certainly helped with her first race for district attorney in San Francisco.” Brown appointed Harris — about 30 years younger than Brown and (then) just a few years out of law school – to two well-paid state commission assignments on the Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board and the California Medical Assistance Commission. He is presently separated from wife Blanche Vitero, whom he married in 1958 and was not “separated from” during the “dating” of Harris. My opinion, if Harris cannot respect something like marriage vows, what the hell will she do with the constitution?

A sad good-bye: Trini Lopez, a singer and guitarist who gained fame for his versions of “Lemon Tree” and “If I Had a Hammer” in the 1960s and took his talents to Hollywood, died Tuesday. He was 83. Filmmaker P. David Ebersole, who just finished shooting a documentary on Lopez with Todd Hughes, confirmed that Lopez died from complications of COVID-19 at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California. Lopez’s music was mainstay for all the school and DeMolay dances I attended in high school. His music and talent will be missed.

We’re here to take your guns: (Reuters) – At least 81 people have been killed in the South Sudan region of Warrap State following heavy fighting between armed civilians and government forces carrying out a disarmament exercise, the military’s spokesman said on Tuesday. “Among the dead are 55 members of the security forces and 26 civilians.” That’s how disarming everyone is going to work.

We don’t need no stickin’ facts (part 3,742): Actress Jamie Lee Curtis floated a conspiracy to her half million Twitter followers that President Donald Trump could be trying to “steal the election” after she said she saw a red hat-wearing truck driver towing a U.S. Postal service van. Let’s see, a “red cap on with white letters,” a design similar to President Trump’s “Make America Great Again” hats, a mail truck on a flat bed. Yep, that equals the President stealing the election, that happens in 3 months. But…But…liberals all say there won’t be no fraud in the mail-in voting.
