Tell me this ain’t personal: On August 12th Los Angeles County filed charges prohibiting Grace Community Church from holding religious services. A local judge decided in favor of Grace Community Church to allow religious service if congregants wore face coverings and practiced social distancing. Factories, pot shops, liquor stores and department stores are allowed to stay open but not houses of worship. On Sunday Los Angeles County sent a letter of eviction to Grace Community Church from a county owned parking lot. They informed the church they can no longer use the parking lot they have used for over four decades. Since when does any County work on a Sunday, especially Los Angeles? Basically, don’t embarrass the powers that be. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” I guess the Constitution doesn’t apply in California.
That’s stupid: The next time I ask someone a question, and they start of with; “That’s a really good question”, I’m going to ask if they are reading from a que card or did they memorize that response. Which is better than telling them what I really want to say. I am so sick of hearing this canned response. Anybody else?
It’s still happening: I have spoken of the “Rwandan Genocide”. Around 800,000+ Tutsis and moderate Hutus were killed in the genocide, which was led by Hutu extremists. I watched “Shake Hands With The Devil”, and needed a strong drink after. The same with “Hotel Rwanda”. The real hero of “HR” ,Paul Rusesabagina, is currently being held at a police station in the Rwandan capital of Kigali, a spokesman for the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) told CNN. He gained prominence when his story was made into the Hollywood film Hotel Rwanda, starring Don Cheadle and Sophie Okonedo. The RIB announced on Monday that Paul Rusesabagina had been arrested in connection with terror-related offenses. The 66-year-old is accused of being the “founder, leader and sponsor of violent, armed, extremist terror outfits,” the agency said. This will not turn out good. Watch the movie, watch both movies, then have a strong drink. You’ll need it.
You go girl: I really liked Sarah Sanders Huckabee as Press Secretary. Now, I’m really beginning to like White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany . Earlier this week she singled out CNN anchors Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon for their coverage over the ongoing riots that have plagued cities across America. She called out several top Democrats and what they said about the unrest in cities throughout the country. The press secretary then also called out to CNN’s most prominent anchors. And she takes no prisoners.
It’s Friday, and a 3 day weekend. I’m headed home to Hilo, drink some “Sexton” Irish whiskey, mow the lawn, trim the hedge, and pick up dog poop. The main thing is, it’s MY lawn, MY hedge, and MY, well not really my, dog poop. You get the idea.
