Small meal: A person in southwest Florida has died after being infected with an extremely rare brain-eating amoeba, health officials said. The agency had previously issued an alert last month, warning residents about the Naegleria fowleri infection. Florida Department of Health said it would soon die of starvation.
A sad Good-Bye: We lost actor Tom Sizemore,61. Mr. Sizemore could be intense, charismatic and manic in roles as soldiers, thugs, cops, killers and, in a television movie, the baseball player Pete Rose. He lived his life just as intense as his characters. Mr. Sizemore at the time was dealing with serious drug problems, which dated to the 1990s. Over the years he used heroin, crystal methamphetamine and cocaine, and he was in and out of rehab. His unique look, intensity, and talent will be missed.
Congratulations: Nearly 60 years after he was first recommended for the nation’s highest award for bravery during the Vietnam War, retired Col. Paris Davis, one of the first Black officers to lead a Special Forces team in combat, will receive the prestigious Medal of Honor on Friday. His selfless actions, heroism, and love for the men under his command epitomize the meaning of HERO. Well done, Sir. Well done.
