Friday Motes, Yes Indeedy

Answer to a problem that doesn’t exist:  Seattle is explicitly banning discrimination on the basis of caste, making it the first city in the US to take such a step. The Seattle City Council approved an  ordinance on Tuesday that amends the city’s municipal code to include caste as a protected class, alongside categories such as race, religion and gender identity. The law prohibits caste discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodations and other arenas, and allows caste-oppressed people in the city to lodge complaints of discrimination. This is all the brainchild of Kshama Sawant, an Indian-American politician and economist who has served on the Seattle City Council since 2014. She is a member of “Socialist Alternative”.  This simply creates another group of “victims”.

Something is wrong: A Tennessee teen visiting St. Louis, Missouri for a volleyball tournament has lost her legs after police say an unlicensed driver drove through an intersection, failing to yield and striking another car and the girl, according to local reports and her volleyball organization. In Hawaii a 45-year-old man accused of killing Sara Yara, 16, in a hit-and-run crash as she walked to school has 164 prior citations. He was stopped 12 times in the past five years on suspicion of driving without a license. There is something terribly wrong here. And everywhere.

Watch alert: If you aren’t watching “Accused”, you are missing some of the best tv on the air. The writing, dialogue, and story lines are just freakin’ incredible. On my absolute list.

As if I needed another reason: I make no bone about how I feel about Liam Neeson and his hypocrisy. Now I hate him because he’s going to destroy something I do like. It’s been said he will be remaking “Police Squad- The Naked Gun”. Why doesn’t he remake Ben Hur or Gone With the Wind or one of those other second feature films.

Determined: Mark Middleton, Bill Clinton’s special advisor from Little Rock, Arkansas who connected the former president to deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein died at the age of 59 last May. Mr. Middleton was found hanging from a tree with a shotgun blast to his chest and an extension cord wrapped around his neck 30 miles from his Arkansas ranch. According to a new report, Arkansas police ruled Middleton’s death a suicide despite no sign of a weapon. Sheriff says it was the most determined case of suicide he’s ever seen. (Not really)
