Rootin’ Tootin’ Thursday Motes

A quote I agree with: A professional politician is a professionally dishonorable person. In order to get anywhere near high office he has to make so many compromises and submit to so many humiliations that he becomes indistinguishable from a streetwalker. H.L. Mencken

W T F : Gunmen stormed a Syrian hospital that is caring for a baby girl who was born under the rubble of her family’s earthquake-shattered home, and the attackers beat the facility’s director, a hospital official said Tuesday. The official denied reports on social media that the Monday night attack was an attempt to kidnap the infant named Aya — Arabic for “a sign from God.” She has been at the hospital since hours after the Feb. 6. earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria. Her parents and four siblings died in the disaster. The hospital’s director had suspected that a nurse who was taking pictures of Aya was planning to kidnap her and kicked him out of the hospital. The nurse returned hours later accompanied by gunmen who beat up the director, the official said. What is freakin’ wrong with these people?

Seems funny to me: All of a sudden there are all those “ballons” floating over everywhere, and it just happens on the same weekend it is announced the Epstein papers are going to be released. All a coinkydink.

Shake rattle and roll: Yes, that 4.8 quake shook my place. Dogs went a little nuts for several minutes, some stuff fell off shelves, but no damage. Except to my sleep. There wasn’t any, for a while.

How bad: Housing in Hawaii, especially on Oahu, is tough. Median price for a residence is just under $1 million. I never thought I’d hear someone say that with a straight face. An indicator of how tough it is,  a recent headline read “18 people are displaced after a blaze ripped through a two-story home in Waipahu.” That was 10 adults and 8 children in one house. You have to save where you can.

Wrong think: Jim Jordan is drawing a ton load of heat for saying only Americans should vote in American elections.Could someone, anyone, show me the wrongness of this. I don’t hear anybody saying we should vote in French elections. Oh, so if I decide I’m a Canadian, and drive illegally across the B.C. border, rent an apartment, I should be allowed to vote in their elections. Eh, No.
