What are they trying to hide: Budget documents and other records that are now routinely made public by state and county agencies might instead be kept secret under a bill that won tentative approval from a Senate committee on Tuesday. The bill is a reaction to a 2018 ruling by the state Supreme Court that effectively reversed nearly three decades of decisions by the state and required state and county agencies to open up certain government records to the public. Some of the records in question included consultants’ reports, revenue estimates for proposed legislation, evaluations of an agency’s overall performance, forecasts of general fund tax revenues and even audit recommendations. You know, stuff that lets us know what the heck is going on. There is a reason they are called “Public Records”.
Huh? : “Far-left anarchists in Portland attacked a city goat refuge”, as revenge for the nonprofit planning to relocate the goats to a plot of land claimed by homeless people with illegal encampments. “You sweep, we strike!” the extremists threatened in a letter. So, the cops sweep a homeless village and the Portland “summer of love” anarchists destroy a goat refuge. Ya, that makes lots of sense.
A sad Good-Bye:The Hawai‘i County Council on Wednesday paid its respects to a fallen Maui firefighter who was a 2016 graduate and star athlete at Kamehameha Schools Hawai‘i in Kea‘au. The 24-year-old Maui firefighter was sucked into a storm drain on Jan. 27 on Wai‘apo Street in Kīhei while responding to an emergency call during flash flooding. The waters swept him about 800 yards to where the drain empties into the ocean. He died Saturday after spending more than a week in the intensive care unit at Maui Memorial Medical Center in Wailuku. He sits at the Table of Heroes. Find peace.
Indian givers: Evgeny Skripnik has announced that 21 military widows from the self-proclaimed “Donetsk People’s Republic” had received fur coats, supposedly as a charitable gift from the Moscow furrier Alexander Boryak. Strelkov’s wife Miroslava Reginskaya delivered the coats herself. In a video published by Reginskaya on February 6, a group of 13 women hold up their brand-new fur coats, saying they couldn’t have expected “such an opportunity.” The women from the footage had to give back their coats as soon as the video had been recorded.
Wrong topic stressed: Police received a report of an auto theft in the 8300 block of East Northfield Boulevard, according to police. The car’s owner tracked the vehicle using an app and found it stopped in the area of West 12th Avenue and North Decatur Street. “When the vehicle’s owner approached the car, he was involved in an exchange of gunfire with occupant(s) in the stolen vehicle,” according to investigators. “A juvenile male then drove the stolen vehicle to the 2900 block of W. 10th Ave. where he was found by officers to be suffering from a gunshot wound.” They will hammer on the fact the “juvenile male” was 12 years old, not the fact he stole a car and then was involved in a gun fight. Even at 12 you gotta know this is unacceptable. Kid, you FA and FO. Headline should be “Car Thief Starts Gunfight and Looses.”
Some people take issue with my political/social views like in the above comment. I never attempt to force my view on anyone else. Fact is, 90% of my political stance is; leave me alone; don’t threaten to harm me or mine because we differ; don’t take my stuff; less government is better government; and leave me alone. Simple.
