It doesn’t apply to me: Gavin Newsom (D) is on a personal vacation to Montana despite California’s ban on state-funded travel to the state over its conservative social policies. California applied a travel ban to Montana in 2021 after the state adopted legislation to protect women’s sports from males competing as transgender females. Newsom’s vacation was first reported by CalMatters reporter Emily Hoeven. He’ll slip around this by claiming it’s not a “state-funded travel” because it’s his personal vacation. Anyone who believes he’s not spending any state money please raise your hand. Yeah, me neither.
Remember these words: “The suspect was known to police”. You’ll hear it again.
Another know it all: Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) reacted to the Highland Park parade attack during a Monday press conference by suggesting America’s Founding Fathers would not support a “constitutional right to own an assault weapon.” Pritzker twitted a video of his comments on the attack, saying, in part, “Our Founders carried muskets, not assault weapons, and I don’t think a single one of them would have said that you have a constitutional right to an assault weapon with a high-capacity magazine.” Actually, yes, I believe they would have. But since there weren’t any at that time, you statement has no basis of fact, is only your opinion, and therefor simply grandstanding. STFDASTFU.
Deep: Vice President Kamala Harris said to the press and Highland Park, Illinois, residents, “We’ve got to take this stuff seriously, as seriously as you are because you have been forced to take this seriously’. Seriously?
Did you know: On February 28, 1997, an event known as the “North Hollywood Shootout” occurred. Several movies and documentaries have been made about the robbery and the two perpetrators. What they don’t tell you is the two bandits had scored over $1.6 million dollars in prior robberies. When police finally located their “hide out” a little under $400K was found. The remaining $1.2 million has never been recovered.
Personal opinion: I don’t know who convinced people that ripped, shredded, and torn jeans are attractive. They aren’t. And they are even less so when worn by a dude. (I can’t say man, I couldn’t be sure.) Especially “designer” jeans that you know came from the store already “worn”. No really, they aren’t attractive on anybody.
A sad Good-Bye; James Caan, 82, has passed. Caan was born in the Bronx in 1940, the son of Jewish immigrants from Germany. Caan grew up in Sunnyside Queens and would attend Michigan State University to play college football. Caan was best known for playing tough guy roles like Sonny Corleone in “The Godfather” and Frank in “Thief.” His talent and drive will be missed.
They’ve been warning us: A string of recent overdoses in Gadsden County, Florida, are believed to be tied to laced pills containing fentanyl in what the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) characterized as a “mass fentanyl poisoning event.” Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young said his office received about 15 calls on Friday related to the incident. There were nine deaths between Friday and Tuesday. The fatalities are due to a suspected strain of fentanyl suspected to be 1,000 times more potent than pure fentanyl. Literally millions of doses on fentanyl have been sized at our “closed” southern border. We’ll start seeing lots more of these mass od’s.
Have a great weekend. Staying in Honolulu this weekend. Hey Danno, need anything?
