Middle Of The Week Motes

Be warned: The president, addressing the shooting in formal remarks for the second time since it happened one day earlier, reiterated the need for “common-sense” gun reform measures and urging the Senate to confirm his nominee to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). “The Second Amendment is not absolute,” the president said. Without going into specific legislation, the president said that “common-sense gun reforms,” while they cannot prevent every tragedy, can have a significant impact without hurting the Second Amendment. The senate and congress can’t get anything done so watch for the “Executive Order” gutting the 2A. Then there will be the EO’s on the 1st, 4th, and 10th Amendments. Then, it will be TOO LATE.

Bong Bong wins. Bong Bong wins: (I just really like saying that) The namesake son of late Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos appeared to have been elected Philippine president by a landslide in an astonishing reversal of the 1986 “People Power” pro-democracy revolt that ousted his father. A joint session of the Philippine Congress on Wednesday declared Ferdinand Marcos Jr. the son and namesake of the notorious late dictator, the winner and confirmed he would become the country’s next president. Also attending was 92-year-old matriarch Imelda, the influential power-broker, who received loud applause from the house as she posed for pictures

Class(less) Act: The day after the Uvalde shooting former President Barry tweeted out: “As we grieve the children of Uvalde today, we should take time to recognize that two years have passed since the murder of George Floyd under the knee of a police officer. His killing stays with us all to this day, especially those who loved him. // In the aftermath of his murder, a new generation of activists rose up to channel their anguish into organized action, launching a movement to raise awareness of systemic racism and the need for criminal justice and police reform.” Floyd was a murderous drug addled thug and does not deserve to be remembered as anything else. The Uvalde victims were innocent children and their teachers, who deserve to be remembered with sorrow.

No hole deep enough: Some time back I commented on a 22 y-o South Carolina meth head who hand screwed his puppy’s paws to the floor. Well, the P O S has been denied bail, the puppy is recovering well, and I still don’t know anyone in S.C. to drop a dime when he gets into gen-pop.

A sad Good-Buy: Bo Hopkins, 84, passed last weekend. He appeared in such movies “American Graffiti”, “The Killer Elite”, and everybody favorite psyco-grandson in “The Wild Bunch”. His talent will be missed.

Clueless act: The children of Uvalde are not buried yet. But last Thursday a New York Times reporter asked Biden’s Spokesperson if the Biden administration would support taking back the $3 million PPP loan to the gun dealer that sold the rifles to the Uvalde school shooter. Just what does one have to do with the other? Maybe we should ask Ford to return the PPP money because my wife’s second cousin’s sister-in-law’s best friend’s brother was killed by a drunk driver operating a Ford pick-up. Same thought process.
