Not sure what she means: Attending a black history month celebration at the White House today, Kamala Harris gleefully remarked “you get what you vote for”. She’s speaking of Uncle Joe nominating a woman of color to the SCOTUS. Not really sure how to take it.
It’s about the Earth: A large cargo vessel carrying cars from Germany to the United States sank Tuesday in the mid-Atlantic, 13 days after a fire broke out on board, the ship’s manager and the Portuguese navy said. The Felicity Ace sank about 400 kilometers (250 miles) off Portugal’s Azores Islands as it was being towed. Ships catching fire and sinking is nothing new, but the it was the cargo, thousands of brand new Volkswagen, Porsche, and Lamborghini vehicles. The ship was transporting electric and non-electric vehicles, according to Portuguese authorities. Suspicion on what started the fire on Feb. 16 has fallen on lithium batteries used in electric vehicles. That’s right, lithium batteries are gonna save mother earth aren’t they?
Sore loser, or just loser: Samuel L. Jackson is still sore that his performance in Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever (1991) didn’t earn him an Oscar nomination. So, he is lashing out at the Academy, accusing it of denigrating black actors by giving them Oscars for “doing despicable shit on screen.” Hey Sammy, how about Sydney Portier in “Lillies of the Field? Or Louis Gossett, Jr. for “An Officer and a Gentlemen”, Hattie McDaniel for “Gone With the Wind”, Whoopi Goldberg for “Ghost”, or Jamie Foxx for “Ray”. Actually, the only one I can find that DOES match your description, is the same one you name, Denzel Washington in “Training Day. Your comment doesn’t hold water.
It’s all about control: Texas Trucker Jeff Sandberg was heading to Washington DC with the Freedom Convoy truckers, Sandberg was left stranded this week after Penske Corporation turned off the power remotely to his truck. the company does not support the freedom protests. He leases his truck from Penske and it appears THEY decide what he uses it for, not him. This is a reminder of what they can do. Part of the “Build Back Better” plan is to require all vehicle built after 2025 be equipped with a “remote kill switch” that law enforcement (or anybody else with access) can ground your vehicle at any time. This will be misused and abused and there is nothing you or I will be able to do. This should concern everyone. The old, “Ewell you don’t have to worry if you’re not doing anything wrong” is just some much crap. They’ll shut you down, then find something.
Not watching: During a recent podcast, Sam Elliot had a few things to say about “The Power of the Dog” and it’s star B. Cumberbatch. I’ll just say he didn’t like it and is really angry that anybody would call it a “western”. Actually, he just out right called the movie a “p o s” and asked “Where’s the Western in this Western?”. I won’t be watching it.

History repeats: Ukrainian military unit is preparing a surprise for Chechen militants expected to join the Russian invasion — greasing its bullets with pork fat. This will prevent the Muslim Chechen from entering Heaven as pigs are “unclean”. This is supposedly one of the things that caused the Indian Sepoy Revolt in 1856. The rumors were British were supplying pork fat to lubricate the breech loading rifles. These rifles required the shooter to bite the of the paper bullet to release the powder. This angered the Muslim soldiers. It was also rumored that there was beef tallow (fat) being used on the bullets and this angered the Hindu soldiers, cows being sacred. It is unknown if these rumors contributed to “revolt”, but they certainly added to the disgruntlement. No telling what they’ll do to a Chechen.
