More Motes of Monday

What part of “public school” is not clear? : Especially in Loudoun County? As part of LCPS’ broader equity agenda, Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) is forcing parents to sign a form similar to a non-disclosure agreement in order to view their Critical Race Theory based curriculum. Parents are only permitted to view the curriculum in person — and cannot broadcast, download, photograph, or record any portion of it. the district spent approximately $7,700 to become a ‘licensed user’ of Second Step Programs. Second Step is dedicated to “diversity, equity, and inclusion” and becoming an “anti-racist organization.” This seems awfully “private” doesn’t it? If you can’t talk about it, it isn’t “public”. The problem is most families cannot afford to send their children to “private” schools. And even if they did, they’d still have to pay the city/state taxes that fund the “public” school. Home schooling, and tax credit for doing so, should always be an option.

Out where the buses don’t run: Actress Janet Hubert is convinced Alec Baldwins shooting was a setup to take the actor down for his political beliefs. Alec is a well-known liberal who mocked Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live before and after the Presidential election. The former President made it clear he was no fan of the actor. ”I have never seen prop guns sitting on set EVER. Then to photograph his pain, and give it to the press! Hmmmm, so very heartless, Trumpers?” she tweets.  And people think I’m paranoid.

Not an answer: It’s been said numerous times, there are not enough operators and truck drivers to unload the backed-up containers sitting at docks around the country. Uncle Joe’s solution? Make it cost even more. The Biden administration is hopeful new fines imposed on carriers at the nation’s busiest port complex will ease the intensifying logjam of cargo ships. The twin ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach will charge carriers $100 per day for each container lingering past a given timeline starting Nov.1. So, give more money to the unemployed, make it easier to not work, and then fine the people who can’t find anyone to work. Yeah, that makes sense.

Economics 104: In order to offset increasing supply costs and wage increases, McDonald’s is increasing the prices on its menu. According to the report, the price hikes come despite strong third-quarter sales, because wages at McDonald’s locations are up at least 10% in 2021. Prices have already gone up 6% this year, while supply chain issues are expected to cause a further 4% increase in prices. The fast-food chain is also struggling to hire enough workers despite the increased wages. McDonald’s is hardly alone. Labor Department data shows that companies worldwide are raising prices to make up for higher costs resulting from the supply chain crisis and wage increases. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said on Tuesday, September 28, that it is “unfair and absurd” for businesses to raise their prices so that consumers are the ones mitigating the effects of higher taxes. Oooops.

Necessary trip:  A school board member in Florida is under fire for chaperoning children on a gay bar field trip. Broward County School Board member Sarah Leonardi said she took the children of Wilton Manors Elementary School to Rosie’s Bar & Grill on what appeared to be an annual field trip, according to a Wednesday social media post by Leonardi. The teachers felt this was a necessary experience for the kids who look around 9-10 years old. No, taking my 10 year-old to any bar is NOT necessary. If a parent was reported doing this, child protective services would be pounding on their door before supper.

hy·poc·ri·sy /həˈpäkrəsē/ noun; the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one’s own behavior does not conform; pretense. : Rutgers professor Dr. Brittney Cooper slammed white people as “villains” during an interview with The Root last month. Cooper falsely claimed that black and brown people happily co-existed and sailed around the world until whites came along and destroyed the world with violence. White people are committed to being villains,” Cooper said. “We gotta take these motherf**kers out, but like, we can’t say that, right?”. “Dr. Cooper” is an obese unattractive individual that obviously has problems with truth and history. Hey Britt, why don’t you step up and put your words into actions? Come on out and play.
