Tuesday Bell-Like Motes

Update: Remember when the fbi went into a “private vault” in CA and seized everything because “some of the owners may” have violated some law or another? Some of those people decided to fight. Last Tuesday, U.S. District Judge R. Gary Klausner granted a temporary restraining order that stops the government from using civil forfeiture to take the contents of safe deposit boxes seized in the FBI’s raid on Beverly Hills company U.S. Private Vaults. Jeni Pearsons and her husband Michael Storc, along with Joseph Ruiz and Travis May, teamed up with the Institute for Justice (IJ) to fight that unconstitutional seizure and the FBI’s attempt to take their cash and valuables forever. In May, the FBI sent a notice to the attorneys for U.S. Private Vaults, informing the company the FBI was seeking to forfeit the contents of hundreds of safe deposit boxes—including over $85 million in cash and millions more in precious metals, jewelry and other valuables. Remember, nobody had been convicted of anything. In fact, no boxholder has even been accused of anything. In ruling on the “notice”, Judge Klausner’s order finds those notices violated due process, explaining: “This notice, put bluntly, provides no factual basis for the seizure of Plaintiffs’ property whatsoever.” “This order squarely rejects the government’s ‘anemic notices’ as an unconstitutional attempt to take box holders’ property for no good reason.” The fbi has still moved forward to take almost 400 box holders’ property forever. Without cause. Without warrants. Trust your fbi. NOPE

Worse than fiction: Just finished David Crow’s “The Pale-Faced Lie”. Holy crap. It is an eye-opening journey through what could only be termed a Hell-on-earth childhood. If you want to read it, have a strong stomach.

Not a surprise: Police retirements and resignations rose significantly over the course of the last year amid widespread riots and coinciding calls to defund the police, according to a survey of about 200 police departments nationwide. The survey of roughly 200 police departments revealed that retirements were “up 45 percent and resignations rose by 18 percent in the year from April 2020 to April 2021. Why does this surprise anyone?

Did you know this last weekend was the “Merry Christmas Rom-Com Marathon” on Hallmark Channel? I didn’t either. until I saw the 237 rom-com’s on my dvr.

The best and the brightest: Tracy Stone-Manning, Uncle Joe’s nominee to lead the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), argued that Americans need to have fewer children and called American kids “environmental hazards” in her graduate thesis at the University of Montana. So, she says we should limit the number of children couples can have. How that work for China? Just asking. Let’s not forget Stone-Manning received legal immunity in exchange for her testimony ( and snitching) that she retyped and sent an anonymous letter to the U.S. Forest Service on behalf of John P. Blount, her former roommate and friend. Blount spent 17 months in prison for this act of eco-terrorism. She walked.

A study has found most restaurants fail within the first year of it being illegal to go to them.
