Viet Nam all over again: Just like VN, America went into Afghanistan without a clear cut idea of victory. Now we’re pulling out. And just like Viet Nam we’re leaving thousands of helpers behind. Advocates say that the Biden administration is moving far too slowly to protect tens of thousands of Afghans whose lives are in mortal danger because of their association with the U.S. and Western organizations and that action must be taken now. Again, like VN, it’s the warriors who care. Veterans organizations from across the political spectrum sent a letter to President Biden on Monday calling for an evacuation of Afghan partners to American territory. It was ignored for the Yards, Moung, and other VN soldiers. It probably won’t work this time either.
Speaking of Viet Nam: A French court on Monday threw out a lawsuit brought by a French-Vietnamese woman against more than a dozen multinationals that produced and sold toxic herbicide Agent Orange, used by American troops during the war in Vietnam. The landmark case, filed in 2014, has pitched Tran To Nga, a 79-year-old who says she was a victim of Agent Orange, against 14 firms, including U.S. multinational companies Dow Chemical and Monsanto, now owned by German giant Bayer. “Because of that, I lost one child due to heart defects. I have two other daughters who were born with malformations. And my grandchildren, too,” she told The Associated Press. Ah yes, Agent Orange, the gift that keeps on giving.
It’s news: Is it just me, or does it seem like a lot of “high-profile” arrests seem to be accompanied by “reporters”? Example: Pastor Artur Pawlowski and his brother, Dawid Pawlowski, were arrested Saturday by officers from the Calgary Police Service for ‘organizing an illegal in-person gathering. These two were arrested in the middle of the highway, and there just happened to be reporters on the scene. Or the Trump associate that was arrested at 5 am, by a full FBI-SWAT team, And there were reporters who just happened to be in the neighborhood, at 5 am, while there’s a swat raid. Am I the only one thinking, hummmmmmm? So now it’s call the Chief, call the judge, call the press?
Election thought, if there were no irregularities and there is nothing to hide in the election, why are there so many filings to stop the recount? Just asking for a friend.
