Monday Motes, Darn.

A sad Good-Bye: Actor Johnny Crawford  known for playing Chuck Connors’ son in the ABC series “The Rifleman” from 1958-63, has died. He was 75.”He passed away peacefully this evening, April 29, 2021 with Charlotte, his wife, by his side.” He was nominated in the best supporting actor (continuing character) in a dramatic series category at the Primetime Emmys in 1959. He was 13 at the time.Crawford also had a musical career, including a recording contract with Del-Fi Records. His song “Cindy’s Birthday” was at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1962. Other tracks by him include “Rumors,” “Your Nose Is Gonna Grow” and “Proud. ” Tho’ he hasn’t been active for some time, he and his talent will be missed.

Pavlovian response: A former police dog in Australia has rocked TikTok with the reminder that law enforcement is never off duty after the pup’s concerned reaction to hearing the word “cocaine” went viral. The handler said; “Bread, milk, pasta, eggs, mayo, and cocaine.” Instantly, the smart shepherd whipped his head around to shoot his owner a concerned, quizzical look. Hell, I knew some girls at the bar, upon hearing that word, their panties fell down. Or so I’ve been told.

A sad Good-Bye: Michael Collins, the NASA astronaut who was the command module pilot for the Apollo 11 mission to the moon, has died at age 90 after battling cancer. “He spent his final days peacefully, with his family by his side. Mike always faced the challenges of life with grace and humility, and faced this, his final challenge, in the same way,” the family said. Men of his strength and courage will always needed. He will be missed.

Do as I say, not as I do: Even as he goes on repeated rants targeting the police, it should be remembered that L.A. Lakers star LeBron James hired off-duty police officers to guard his Southern California mansion. To protect against criminal activity, James hired “at least 10 armed security personnel,” some of which were off-duty police officers. James’s decision to hire off-duty police officers to protect his multimillion-dollar home seems to contrast sharply with his recent targeted assaults on police officers. Let me see if I got this straight, while King James attacks the police with his unassailable intelligence, and wants them eliminated for everyone else, he has hired them to protect his own property.  What’s that phrase everyone keeps using…oh I remember, money equals privilege. He gots some.

Bad neighbor:  Even though he city of Honolulu has set a goal of planting 100,000 new trees by the year 2025, the city is forcing dozens of homeowners to cut down trees on city sidewalks fronting their homes.  “We are responding to a citizen’s complaints, which is part of our duties,” the city Department of Planning and Permitting said. The complaints, according to the DPP, came from a single person who filed a total of 261 complaints during a two-day period back in October. Wow, someone really ticked that neighbor off.

I once had this guy for a neighbor.

I

I guess he really liked his green onions.
