I Can See Friday Motes

Things may be changing : Honolulu just got a new Mayor, someone outside the usual political circles. Now we are looking for a new School Superintendent, the Kauai Police Chief is suspended, and the Honolulu Police Chief quits. “The times they are a-changin’”.

While the world laughs:  In a highly disrespectful and embarrassing move, Kamala Harris welcomed Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga to the White House on Friday.Joe Biden was nowhere to be found as Kamala Harris welcomed Yoshihide Suga, the first foreign leader to visit the Biden White House. No one met Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga at the door when he arrived. The only one standing there was a stationary Army Guard. But it gets worse. Then, when Vice President Kamala was sent down to greet the Japanese Prime Minister, she spent more than a full minute trashing the US as a violent place as Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga stood next to her waiting to be introduced.

She’s not that dumb: Everyone is slamming Mad Max Waters (D-CA) for going to Minnesota to urge the “peaceful protesters” to get “more confrontational.” Not  only is she “inciting riot” but she went to another state. There will be no repercussions, She requested a police escort for her trip to Minneapolis. Stop and think. Max ain’t stupid. If she did that in her state, Calipornia, the protesters might “accidentally” find her 6,000sf Windsor Gardens estate, that isn’t in the district she represents. Just think of what might happen. Hehehe

A sad Good-bye: Back in the 60’s (1960’s for you kids) Seattle had a night club called “The Spanish Castle”. Twice a month it would become a “teenage” nightclub. It was there I saw Jimmy Hendrix, and once a group called “The Kingsmen”. They did a song that became a “forever”, “Louie Louie”. The last original member, Mike Mitchell, co-founding guitarist died Friday at age 77. He will be missed.

And another sad Good-bye: Jim Steinman the composer, lyricist and record producer who worked with artists like Meat Loaf Celine Dion, Bonnie Tyler and more, died Monday, the Connecticut state medical examiner confirmed to Varity He was 73.  Steinman’s work appeared in a multitude of genres, such as adult contemporary, rock, dance and pop, in addition to musical theater and film scores. He composed rock singer Meat Loaf’s debut album “Bat Out of Hell” in 1977, which is one of the best-selling albums of all time with more than 50 million copies sold around the world. I have been known to put this cd on the player when working on the Harley. His talent and words will be missed.

Laws don’t matter: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has backed Democrats’ effort to pack the Supreme Court by adding four new seats that would be filled by President Joe Biden, arguing the courts should not be allowed to overturn laws passed by Congress. Especially ones that “hundreds and thousands of legislators, advocacy and policymakers drew consensus on”. It’s all that “,advocacy and policymakers” that scares me. So now it’s the executive, legislative, judicial, and policymaker branches of government. Just when do we have a “department of policymakers”?
