Wednesday Motes for A Laugh

Don’t embarrass the fed’s: The U.S. Justice Department is considering whether to charge members of far-right groups involved in the deadly Jan. 6 storming of the Capitol under a federal law usually used against organized crime, according to two law enforcement sources. The Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, known as RICO. Notice, they are only considering those involved in the Jan 6 protest. They don’t say anything about all those “peaceful protesters” in 2020. I mentioned this several weeks ago.

Who runs things: Guyana has abruptly terminated an agreement with Taiwan to open an office in the South American country, effectively a de facto embassy for the island that China claims as its sovereign territory with no right to diplomatic ties. The decision was made just hours after China urged Georgetown to “correct their mistake”. Want to know who runs things, just find out what you can’t do.

Ashli Babbitt. Remember her name.

I’ll circle around to that: There are shows so bad they are memorable. “My Mother The Car”, “Night Rider”, and now Selma Hayek’s “A Boob’s Life: How America’s Obsession Shaped Me—And You,”. In the series, a woman has a crisis leading up to her 40th birthday and her boobs begin to talk to her. Yes, talking boobs. And here I thought CNN had a monopoly on talking boobs.

Marx would be proud: Former President Donald Trump has resigned from the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists after the board voted that his actions prior to the Capitol riot violated their guidelines. Sounds like the old Groucho Marx line about not belonging to any organization that would have him as a member. Not the Marx you thought was it?

Yes, I am a pessimist. I’m either always right, or pleasantly surprised.
