Thursday Motes For Learning

It says something when any television professional wrestling show has better production values then the Democratic National Convention.

Not one: Over 300 thousand bikers in Sturgis S.D. for 10 days and NOT ONE SHOOTING. Last weekend; Detroit 20 shootings, 7 deaths; Philadelphia 30 shot, 7 dead; Chicago 62 shot, 4 dead; San Francisco, unknown shootings, 4 dead; New York 51 shot, 6 dead. A bunch of drunken partying bikers, none.

Maybe it’s just me: On my last 2 flights to Hilo there has been an obviously armed member of Homeland Security on board.

Would the last person leaving Honolulu, please turn out the lights: Hawaii, specifically Honolulu, has nothing but tourism. Everything else, construction, sales, real estate, everything, depends on tourists coming here and spending money. There is no manufacturing that is not dependent on the tourist dollar. There is limited U of H research but it’s not enough to float the state. Pineapple and sugar are forgotten crops. Marijuana is grown legal and cheaper in other states. The governor and the mayor have just added another 28 days lockdown, which will mean over 6 months without the tourist dollar. Just turn out the lights and close the door.

Please think first; Early last month a friend of mine shot himself. The CDC just announced, one in four young adults aged 18-24 reported seriously contemplating suicide within the last 30 days, according to new data released last week from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Sixteen percent of those aged 25-44 reported the same as restrictions in the name of COVID-19 implemented to slow its spread promise to stretch into the fall. More than 10 percent of all respondents in the 5,412 person survey said they had given serious consideration to the irreversible act. The national suicide hotline is 1-800-273-8255.

Yes, it really works.
